Job Description
Position Overview: We are seeking a talented and experienced Content Management System (CMS) Lead Developer to join our dynamic team. As the CMS Lead Developer, you will be responsible for leading the development, customization, and maintenance of various content management systems for our organization. Your expertise in multiple CMS platforms, combined with your technical prowess, will drive the evolution of our digital content infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a team of CMS developers in designing, implementing, and customizing CMS solutions to meet the organization’s content management needs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, content creators, and backend developers, to ensure seamless integration of CMS systems within our digital ecosystem.
Evaluate and select appropriate CMS platforms based on project requirements, scalability, and maintainability.
Architect and implement scalable and robust CMS solutions, considering performance, security, and user experience.
Customize and extend CMS functionality through the development of plugins, themes, modules, and other components.
Manage the complete software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, fostering their growth and skill development.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to CMS systems and web development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
Proven experience (X years) as a CMS developer, with a focus on multiple CMS platforms such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Magento, etc.
Strong understanding of web development technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and related frameworks.
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
Proficiency in designing and optimizing relational databases for CMS applications.
Demonstrated experience in architecting and implementing CMS solutions that are secure, scalable, and maintainable.
Familiarity with responsive web design principles and mobile-first development.
Experience with integrating third-party APIs, web services, and external systems into CMS solutions.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Leadership experience, including mentoring developers, coordinating projects, and guiding technical decisions.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Contributions to open-source CMS projects or development communities.
Knowledge of SEO best practices as they relate to CMS implementations.
Familiarity with headless CMS architectures and decoupled CMS implementations.
Experience with e-commerce platforms and integrations.
Certification or formal training in relevant CMS platforms is a plus.
